Vancouver’s first Pinoy Spring Festival is ready for take off. A date has been chosen for this groundbreaking event that heralds other festivals in the Filipino Canadian community. PinoySpring Festivalwill be held at the Pacific National Exibition at The Forum (2901 East Hastings Street) on May 25, 2014.
This coincides with spring, a time of renewal, a reawakening, the birth of new life. Just as spring for many symbolizes new projects and new ideas, Vancouver Spring Fest will herald a year full of festivals.
The Vancouver Spring Fest is a collaboration among the ReyFort Media Group, TV5, and Phinma Properties. The event will also host the first ever Canada- wide grand finals of the Pinoy New Talent) Singing Idol contest, popularly known as PNT Idol. It is a project of the ReyFort Media Group, the multimedia company behind the Philippine Asian News Today and Philippine Showbiz Today papers, and TV programs EveRIAthing and Balitang Vancouver.
In addition to homegrown B.C. finalists, PNT Idol grand contestants will come from the Yukon, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, and Winnipeg. Several community associations have confirmed their participation in Vancouver Spring Fest, bringing with them unique Philippine festival formats like the Ati-Atihan, Sinulog, Sto. Nino Festival, Dinagyang, Seniors Group, the Filipino group in Victoria.
Also featured in the festival are productions from different dance groups like La Riva Dancers and the multi-awarded Praise Team with participation too from the different singing groups. Organizers continue to receive confirmation from several community groups and associations that they will participate in the festival through cultural numbers and other entertaining presentations. The festival will have a musical component with a hip-hop competition, and a battle of bands. Surprise guests are expected to provide more entertainment.
TV5 will promote their programs on Shaw Cable with their special subscription packages for Kapatid TV5 and AksyonTV International. Kapatid TV5 is a 24-hour general entertainment Tagalog language channel, which programming includes drama, fantasy, comedy, variety, game, gag shows, reality, and news and current affairs.
AksyonTV International is a 24-hour Tagalog language channel dedicated in bringing the latest in News and Philippine Sports. This news, information, public affairs, and sports channel keeps Filipinos across the globe updated onthe latest national and international news and current events, while keeping the viewers abreast on what’s happening in the local sports scene.
The festival’s success also rests with the support of Phinma Properties, a medium- and high-rise housing developer for the affordable market in and around Metro Manila.
